Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a treatment in which you inhale 95% oxygen in a cabin with a higher than normal air pressure. This increased pressure helps to absorb more oxygen into your bloodstream, speeding up the healing process and providing a range of health benefits.
During a session in the hyperbaric chamber, the patient breathes in 95% pure oxygen. This increased air pressure, which is usually between 1.5 and 3 times higher than normal sea level pressure, causes the oxygen uptake in the blood to increase a lot.
Under normal conditions, oxygen is transported by red blood cells, but the increased pressure during HBOT also allows oxygen to be dissolved directly into the plasma, the clear liquid in the blood. This means that oxygen can be distributed throughout the body faster and more efficiently, even to areas with reduced or blocked blood supply.
A normal HBOT session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. During the session, you lie or sit comfortably in the hyperbaric oxygen booth and breathe pure oxygen. The treatments are non-invasive, painless and can be carried out without the supervision of trained professionals, as our booths are self-service and 95% safe.
Depending on your specific needs, a course of treatment can range from a few sessions to an extensive series of treatments.
